The New Room

Dreamily drifting through our house

the bridegroom and the bride discover each other

and find love, swaddled in a honeymoon suite

lasting for years.

Our home has but this one bedroom,

Beautiful,

wallpapered in mystery,

full of hidden surprises and gifts.

Then, unexpectedly, a new door appears,

where we were sure none existed.

The room is dark at the entrance,

So dark we have to feel our way

towards a gurgling noise

… revealing an infant boy lying naked on a small woolen fleece.

Seeing us, blue eyes open and arms waves in delight.

As soon as he is cradled in our arms

The fleece disappears and room is suddenly lit.

No light experienced before,

bright but softer, warm to the touch,

but untouchable.

Radiating love he is ours and we are His,

Natures change instantly,

permanently

as he becomes.

And we stand together, in the New Room, safe, renewed, changed.

A family enslaved in love.

Song of Solomon

“Eat, friends, drink, and be drunk with love.”
